The breakfast was sumptuous, the hotel itself was very grand so that it 'felt' like a five-star location, and above all the staff were absolutely delightful. I could have taken them all home with me.

Breakfast was good. Room was fine. The staff exceptional. Lost my prescription sunglasses. Sara at the front desk looked at the security video and saw that I had them when we checked in. This allowed me to determine where I had left them. Went to the only place they could be. They were found. Because of her. I’m on the Camino. Would have been a disaster. There was a gentleman who also helped us. Did not get his name. He was working when we arrived.

A beautiful little city with enough to see in a long weekend...
A beautiful little city with enough to see in a long weekend. Lots of places to eat and drink. If you want to cater for your own food there are plenty of medium sized supermarkets and one large one. The old quarter is particularly pretty. Visited on Ascension weekend - 10-13 May 2024 - with lots going on: lots food huts in the centre selling the local cheese, and other local food produce. Excellent local marching bands and a large craft fair.

Lovely city full of life!
Lovely city full of life! Clean, safe, amazing restaurants, cafes, bakeries.
Great visits to the art museum (free!) and Cathedral (fee with a guide via QR code on your phone).
Just walking around the city gives good vibes.
Also a very big mall with food court in case you want to shop (or kill time on rainy days.)
Surrounding villages on the coast have amazing views and crazy high waves that crash into the cliffs.

The cleanest, friendliest city in Spain.
The cleanest, friendliest city in Spain. I have never seen so many council workers sweeping a city before, incredibly clean. A must visit for everyone. The architecture is incredible, old & new together but not clashing. Museums, art, history and great cafe/bars etc all within walking distance, no taxis required.

This is quite a large city with wide boulevards and modern business and shopping areas with a beautiful old centre at its core.
Good road and rail links for arrival and onward travel.
Old town and Cathedral are lovely areas to explore on foot. Excellent choice of restaurants and bars- traditional Spanish but also Italian / mediterranean cusine and some catering for vegetarians/vegans. Plenty of historic buildings and gallery and museums to visit.
Best experience- seeing a wedding party arrive and enter the Cathedral on Saturday morning- with traditional dress and musicians playing pipes and drums.
Sitting in the sunshine at a cafe watching the spectacle unfold. Followed by a late lunch in a cobbled, inner courtyard restaurant ,nearby. Perfect!

Oviedo is a very clean compact city easy to get around...
Oviedo is a very clean compact city easy to get around walking. There are many many restaurants and Cider houses serving excellent Asturian or European food at very attractive prices. The Menu del Dia in the reataurants of Calle Gascona ranged from 15 euros per person upwards which included bread and oil, starter, Main meal ,and dessert, with 2 bottles of cider and water, the quality of the food was excellent. Particularly enjoyed The Cathedral, the markets, the food market with great choice of cheese ,meats and fish and bread. San Francisco Park is beautiful to walk around any time of day or night and very safe. The city has a lovely ambiance.
The hostess/owner was extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast was the best that I've had in Spain with home-made goodies and enough left over for lunch! The house/premises are just before Pola de Siero, coming on the Camino link from Villaviciosa, and well placed to break a long walk. The bedroom was spacious and peaceful with a good bathroom. The location is rural so dinner, (and obviously any dietary preferences) should best be considered and discussed with the hostess when booking.
Excellent helpful staff. Good location 10 minutes walk from the Bus Station. The hotel is situated in a nice largely pedestrianised street with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. All of the tourist sites within Oviedo are reachable on foot by someone with a reasonable/good level of fitness. My room was equipped with everything I needed. Very comfy pleasant stay with one small niggle, see below.
The staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We had booked two rooms connected by a private hall and it was the perfect combination for a family of four with two young kids. We had lunch at the hotel’s restaurant a few times and the food was delicious. This was our second time at the Barceló Cervantes and we will certainly be back.
I stayed twice at this hotel. The location is really great, it's right on Oviedo's central park and very close to the shopping streets. The rooms are comfortable, though both my rooms faced an internal space, so there's no scenery out the window. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The price is good, and again, you can't beat the location.
Small hotel in a beautiful location with great views from our balcony over the valley. Paul the owner is so friendly and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. We upgraded to a larger room which was great and extremely comfortable. Slept like a log it was so peaceful up in the hills above Oviedo.
Excellent location, easy walking access to the old town and cathedral, eateries.
The room was clean and adequate, but a common criticism of many hotels in Spain in the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Location and competitive tariff. Handy for the stations (bus/train) and the many shopping and dining streets.
Oviedo must be the cleanest city in Spain. Based on lack of evidence of litter. Loved it.
Definitely one of the best budget hotels we have stayed in so far ! Everything was top-notch and that too in budget. We are going to go with ibis budget the next time we visit Oviedo!
The location of this hotel is amazing. Everything is within walking distance. The room was clean and right above a really cute restaurant. The staff were helpful and friendly.
The hotel is very well located (center of the city) and is within a palace.
The parking is very convenient (easy to reach and good access to the rooms),
